Volunteers in action
Desk Mates
Desk Mates, launched in January 2021 by Volunteer Ventures MA, aims to support students by providing free, hand-built desks to those without a dedicated study space at home. This program has helped hundreds of students in the Boston area. Thanks to over 700 volunteers, more than 500 desks have been built and delivered, giving students a better chance to succeed in school. As demand continues to grow, we’re committed to building even more desks to meet the ongoing need.

Soup jar count

Beyond 5,000 Soup Jars
Our soup jar initiative is dedicated to supplying healthy meals to those coping with food insecurity. We've made and distributed over 5,000 soup jars to local food panties and meal programs. Join us as we aim to make 2,000 more soup jars this year! We believe that addressing food insecurity is not just a necessity; it's a fundamental step towards building a compassionate community where no one is left without access to essential nutrition.
Accessible Picnic Tables
Join our commitment to make outdoor spaces accessible to all with our thoughtfully designed picnic tables. This groundbreaking project aims to extend a warm invitation to individuals with limited mobility to our specially designed tables. It's a powerful step towards inclusivity, ensuring that everyone can engage fully in the vibrant experiences fostered in community.

Annual MLK Day of Service
The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service brings community members together to honor Dr. King’s legacy through meaningful action. Volunteers of all ages participate in hands-on projects that address real community needs, from building essential items for local organizations to preparing resources that support families across Greater Boston. By working side by side, volunteers not only contribute tangible support but also build connections rooted in compassion and a shared commitment to community care.
